We are the Mimes and Mummers.

The Mimes and Mummers, founded by Charles Melton Walcott in 1855, is the oldest club at Fordham University’s Rose Hill Campus. The club produces four main-stage shows a year, including two musicals, a comedy, and a drama. For each production, the Mimes hire professional directors, music directors, and choreographers from the New York City area. The club boasts a design team of students who head the lighting, sound, set, costumes, properties, and publicity departments for each show.

Our mission is to foster student artistic and general development by providing first hand experience in leadership, organizational management, decision making, and technology.

"The bond that connects all Mimes is forged in the challenges presented in working together purely for the love of the outcome and the magic it creates."

Get Involved!

The Mimes and Mummers began in 1855 and have been performing ever since. From contemporary Off-Broadway musicals to intimate, theatrical dramas, the Mimes have gone on to showcase a wide variety of talent, both on and off stage. With an undying community surrounding Collins Auditorium, the spirit of the Mimes is one that will never be forgotten.

Any non-theatre major may audition for our productions.  Auditions are announced on our Facebook, Instagram, and website. Look out for flyers around campus, too!

Any student can also assist with the technical aspects of production. Possible tech roles include set design, stage management, costumes, props, lights, sound, makeup, hair, publicity, and more!

Become a Mime!

To become a member of the Mimes and Mummers, you must participate in two productions (cast or crew) and attend the strike following each production. Club members may vote for productions, elect executive board members, and run for the board. Members are also eligible for University Encaenia awards for their contributions during senior year.

Direct Our Show!

Directorial and music director positions are available for any professional seeking to work in a college theater environment. Director calls will be posted on Playbill.com before production begins for each of our shows. We host two musicals, one comedy, and one drama each season.

All audition times and other information on how to get involved will be posted on the Mimes Instagram.
